Okay I will be in Rome July 4 . I am wearing black pants and a white shirt along with black shoes. Since I 'm a Sicilian American I don't care if the Romans like it or not.
Europeans are a lot more conservative than Americans regarding dress….interesting considering Americans are supposed to be so intolerant…HMMMM. This little girl is arrogant.

I understand that there are places where you should dress accordingly to avoid unwanted attention. But one thing I have realized is that Italian people care too much about appearance than behaviour.
I recently contacted someone from Italy and that person was soo rude to me (maybe bc I was speaking English or I have no idea why) and even after realizing that it was his mistake he didn't apologize. And now going through comments, I see that everyone who has a different opinion on clothes is being considerd a slob, poor etc. I get that you might have better fashion sense than others…but insulting them for what they wear? To me, someone who wears high end clothes but has no idea how to respect others for their choices/conditions is just as elegant as a homeless person.
Again: I want to dress according to the occasion and respect their culture. But if I don't match their required standards and get judged for it…
I'm conflicted about this video. Yeah, the speaker on the video was adorable; and, the first thing I'd do if I got to visit Italy would be to ditch my own shoes and buy a really nice pair of Italian loafers. Yet, all I have to say to the Italian nationals (I'm an American who's one-fourth Italian) is lighten up on your bad attitude concerning tourists in Italy. Your national economy is in the shit tank, and you should be overjoyed and very thankful that you have tourists from any other countries who'd want to visit Italy and would spend their money there to help keep your economy afloat .
