The walking on the first part of this section is on relatively flat trails and along river valleys. At Passo della Cissa mountain pass you will cross the gate into Tuscany ‘Porta Toscana della Francigena’. Beautiful woodlands, wonderful monuments, sweeping mountain views such as those at Salto del Diavolo and pretty towns and villages make it an exhilarating section of the Via Francigena.
