Florence is one of my favourite cities – Iโve been twice now and would happily visit again (and again and again!) very jealous that you visited some of the surrounding towns, Iโve heard such good things about Siena & also Luca is supposed to be very beautiful. Tuscany has such a distinct style and feel to it…
If you didnโt see them on your first visit, I would definitely recommend these for the next;
-the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella (the church by the train station) as it has tonnes of frescos & is generally quieter than the Duomo. There is also an old apothecary/perfumery that is attached to it (though you have to come out of the church to get to it) which is well worth a visit for the building alone, but the beauty bits they sell are also lovely (but expensive – about โฌ10 for a bar of soap ๐ณ).
-I also really liked the Boboli gardens, which I think you can get on a conjoined ticket with the Uffizi gallery (which I donโt remember being as expensive as you mentioned, but is also great – though worth also booking in advance because the queue can get crazily long!) though I think I bought mine separately.
-The San Lorenzo market is also a great place to pick up a bargain (especially if youโre after leather goods!) and is right by the Central Market, which is a great place to stock up on food!
-Also, the Piazzale Michaelangelo (a bit of an uphill walk – on the other side of the river) has an incredible view of Florence and the surrounding Tuscan hills.
Thanks Rose, some helpful tips! I'm heading back to Italy tomorrow and cant wait
