Visit Verona
Romeo & Juliette made this town famous for millions of English students, but the city has more than just a balcony and two star crossed lovers. Verona is an amazing town to visit as the Arena still holds concerts ranging from Opera to Pearl Jam and with churches and castles spotted all around is well worth a few nights stay.

Not concerts in the arena but spectacular operatic productions liked Aida.
I want to say something about the "pastisada de caval" (horse stew). After the fall of the Western Roman Empire there was a barbarian king in Italy, Odoacre. instead of proclamate himself as the new Roman Emperor, as other barbarian kings did before him, he decided to rule Italy as Goth King. Bysanthium (Eastern Roman Empire) sent in Italy Teodorico (then known as Teodorico il Grande, Theoderic the Great) to get the double goal to free the Eastern Roman Empire from Theoderic's raids, and to stop Odoacre in Italy. So Bysanthium wanted an other barbarian puppet king in Italy. Theoderic fought Odoacre and at the end he succeded:

On February 2, 493, Theoderic and Odoacer signed a treaty that assured
both parties would rule over Italy. A banquet was organised in order to
celebrate this treaty. It was at this banquet that Theoderic, after
making a toast, killed Odoacer; Theoderic drew his sword and struck him
on the collarbone.
In one of theese bloody battles, near Verona, many horses died. People was starving, so they decided to pick up horse meat, and to preserve it, they cut the meat down in small pieces, and let the meat macerate in red wine with spices and vegetables. After a second cooking of the meat they discovered that the meat was great! So "pastisada de caval" was born.
