Rome in off-peak season | Travel vlog with travel hacks for Rome | BEST OF ITALY (VIDEO)
Rome is a crazy and amazing city. I have been three times and definitely prefer it in off-peak season. Watch my vlog to see how crazy it still is during off-peak season.
Rome: An Unforgettable Journey Through History
Sublime sculptures, imposing edifices, and cobbled streets echoing stories of a bygone era – this is Rome, the Eternal City. Often noted as an open-air museum, Rome’s abundant beauty and historical legacy have long captivated the hearts of many.
Walking through the city, one is immediately drawn to the beautiful burners adorning the city’s various sections. Although they may seem hilarious, they are a visual delight, providing a distinctive Roman touch to the urban scenery.
One of the must-visit locations is the bustling Piazza Navona, an epicenter of Roman life. As we strolled into this iconic square, we couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of anticipation and connection. Our hairdresser back home named his salon after Piazza Navona, a nod to his fondness for this Roman locale, enhancing our excitement to see it firsthand.
Rome is not just about aesthetic pleasure; it’s also about experiencing the city’s energy and the stories contained within its magnificent structures. Among these, the Colosseum stands out – an architectural marvel that makes one marvel at its grandeur, no matter how many times they visit. Despite the occasional long wait for tickets, the awe-inspiring experience makes it worth the patience. However, due to time constraints, we opted to visit this iconic monument on our final day, ensuring we could fully immerse ourselves in its rich history.
Rome is also about the wandering. A good day in Rome involves a lot of walking. We trekked from the Colosseum back to our hotel, meandering through the city’s maze-like streets and discovering not only famous sites but also hidden gems. Tired but fulfilled, we ended our day with a hearty pasta meal – the quintessential way to recharge after a day of exploration.
But Rome wasn’t the only destination on our itinerary. Our next stop was the Vatican, a site that draws crowds from around the world, regardless of religious background. The Sistine Chapel, with its intricate artwork, is particularly impressive. To make the most of the visit, we pre-booked tickets, allowing us to bypass the often lengthy queues and appreciate the awe-inspiring beauty within.
Another architectural marvel is the Pantheon, a nearly 2,000-year-old structure with a fascinating history. Originally constructed by Agrippa and rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian after a fire, this grand edifice is free to visit, making it a must-see spot in Rome.
Despite the rich history and captivating sights, it’s essential to remember that Rome isn’t just about the past. It’s a living, breathing city. Between historical sightseeing, we savored the present-day Roman lifestyle, indulging in shopping sprees, enjoying local cuisine, and appreciating the simple pleasure of a delicious cup of coffee.
Our journey concluded with a visit to yet another iconic building – a favourite of my mother – and a final shoutout to her for sparking our interest in this remarkable city. Although the shopping venture wasn’t as successful as we’d hoped, the experience overall was unforgettable.
The city of Rome, with its blend of history and modernity, left us with cherished memories and a desire to return. Its sights and sounds, tastes, and tales have etched themselves into our hearts, serving as a testament to Rome’s timeless allure. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a foodie, or just someone seeking a unique experience, Rome promises an adventure that will leave you in awe.
