I'm going naples this year, looks amazing.
the Archaeological Museum is great, but Mueso Capodimonte is an absolute MUST if you are into Musuems. There are at least 10 Carvaggios there. Not to mention that there are random churches through out town that have Carvaggios and other Masters paiting that they had commisioned for thier respective churches at one time or another while he (they) were alive. Plus there are 3 amazing Castles all within walking and Finiculare distance from each other. And a short Metro ride and you can see Anfiteatro Flavio Puteolano (the Colleseum of Pozzouli), while not as good shape as the Colleseum in Rome, there will be maybe 5 people there and you get to expeniece the entire thing by yourselves. You'll need to get a taxi or find a tour buss but the Capuan Colleseum is very close as well (where Spartacus started his uprising). A short drive from there will get you to Caserta Palace, the Spaish (and later Bonnapart) seat of power and the wonderful garden (for Star Wars fans, this is the Naboo Palace filimng location). And yes Sorrento, salerno, Amalfi, Posetano and the entire Amalfi coast is close at hand. And Pasteum is just over an hour South….Greek temples in better condition than anything in Greece.

Vesuvius here- Best Evacuate to Water- make sure all people own a Oxygen Tanks and Floatable Water Suits- much cheaper than a Jetsuit and Less Collision Possibility- Be Ready!!!

Im surprised Rick didn't cover the famous underground Roman city in the middle of Napoli, it's 40 meter under the city full of history , every local knows it

Although within a day I saw cars burned by the mafia and had a 14-year-old boy try to swindle me out of a credit card, I loved Napoli more than Rome. The city has so much more color and character and the price is much friendlier for the wallet of a student. If you're looking for a more authentic and grittier Italy, Napoli is the best place to go.
