For five days in Rome, I spent under 0. This is fantastic, considering Rome is an expensive city in an expensive country! But if you’re wondering how to travel Rome on a budget, or looking for some budget travel tips, you’ve come to the right place.
The best tips are included in the video, but for those who just want to read and continue on preparing for your trip, remember these key points:
1. If you want to keep to your Rome trip budget, walk as much as possible.
2. If you want to eat on a budget in Rome, buy groceries and cook (some) meals.
3. If you need cheap accommodation in Rome, stay in a hostel or AirBnB.
4. If you’re looking for free things to do in Rome, visit the many free attractions (the Vatican, Giancolo Hill, The Colosseum (outside), the parks, Trastevere, the river, etc.)
This last one is a big one. It is easy to throw money at private tours or special tours. Some of those tours might be amazing. But you’re at a point in your life where you can’t afford the pricey amazing, just the budget amazing. Thankfully, there are a lot of free things to do in Rome, so the budget amazing is actually worth your time.

Here you’ll find my honest experience of traveling Europe for a year on a budget!
In June 2017, I quit my job to travel around the world. Without much savings, I was destined to be a backpacking budget traveler. This is my budget travel trip through Europe! All I’ve got is myself, and a carry-on backpack, and determination.
thanks. which month did you visit rome?
whats the app name?
Thank you for this. I am going to Rome next month and was worried about the money. I am definitely more excited now after watching this video. Thank ou!
Thanks, for all the info this is great.
Amazing tips! Thanks a lot!
This video reminds me of Malta where I am living in right now, very near from Sicily. Those where fireworks my dear. There must have been a Festa in that town, same as in Malta,,oh let’s talk about beautiful Rome. I have been to Rome 23 times. Will be back this January.. Yes the cheapest way from the airport to the center of Rome is definitely by bus, a return trip will cost only €9 . Always eat at a local Italian restaurant, good tasty food at a reasonable price. Also fill up a water bottle from any one of Rome’s many water fountains, it’s safe to drink and it’s free..Also walking around is also free. I use Agoda.com to book my Hotel, and I normally pay €50 per night for a 4 star Hotel, single room with bathroom, free WiFi and breakfast. Breakfast is great because you can make a huge sandwich, yogurt, fruit and take them out with you, basically a free lunch. So for €50 per night gets you a private room, with breakfast and free lunch, not to mention privacy..Thanks for you lovely video..
Too much wasted time my dear

I've been thinking of going to Sicily, did you use a car to get around the island or did you use the buses to go from one city to another in Sicily?
Appreciate your video but you're a bit annoying. Sorry but you need to drop the over the top drama lines and annotations.
Roma is cheap 😂
Great suggestions, Jacey, and I love your enthusiastic presentations.
Lol. Go to Rome, walk up to the Colosseum and don't go in?
Nice tips but Stop shouting. 🙄
What hostel do you recommend in Rome?
Fearless Jacey, Thank you for such a helpful video including the interesting interruptions. You must be a magician to have such an interesting lifestyle and live so frugally. I will be going to Rome soon and would welcome more information about the safety of their streets and public transport.
