Failed state, Italy

Actually, I live near Naples and I can confirm that those "zombie" trains are actually real. We all hate the Circumvesuviana (that is the name of the railway system), however, I have to say that other circumvesuviana lines get better services; especially the line to Sorrento.
If someone has any questions, just ask xD

I hadn't realised Italy is in such a mess, it might explain the crazy politics going down there. It looks quite dangerous to be honest.

how do you know how fast the elevator goes?

The abandoned esclators look very bad, but I have seen some in worse conditions. In 2006 I have been to leeds, and there were two escalators outside of the central Shopping Center, leading to an Underground predestrian tunnel. They were in such a bad conditeion. Allmost every step was lose and it was covered in moss (it has been removed since then). The other ones were in Munich, also in an old predestrian tunnel from the 1960es. the steps are so corroded that there are some holes in there. even plants are growing on them. They are located near the popular Hofbrauhaus. These still exist.

That is the single most run-down city I've seen in my entire life. Period. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, this was an amazing video!

Who this place is like “Fat Toni” from the Simpsons. It’s supposedly the mafia’s turf. Heard a some news stories a few years back on the failing of the garbage collection in Naples, it looks completly in decay. That cementary looks interresting, but I’m not sure if it’s spooky enough for the gothic people.

This is really fascinating. The partially or fully abandoned public traffic, the redundant lines, the abandoned buildings and their run down surroundings… All this must have cost a lot of money when built, and most of it doesn't seem to be that old… even if economy isn't doing well, you don't let things just rot like that and instead waste money on a train line that is totally redundant. This must be some really bad management.

2:45 I wonder if any of those trains still work!
